JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for paralegal support to the Avera Patient Accounts Attorney, a large volume practice, involving drafting pleadings, coordinating and scheduling discovery, working predominantly in South Dakota Circuit Court, but also Minnesota Workers' compensation court and Federal Bankruptcy Court when necessary. Position is responsible for case tracking and reporting status to referring Avera entities.


REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma is required along with prior legal experience and/or diploma with a degree in legal assistant studies.

• Knowledge and proficiency in dealing with Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Health Information Technology and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) and Gramm- Leach- Bliley Act (GLBA) is required in addition to state and local civil procedure statutes and rules, workers compensation, and bankruptcy.


REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS
