The Union County State’s Attorney Now Hiring a Legal Office Assistant to perform a variety of secretarial and clerical work of a legal nature and assisting attorneys in the preparation of legal documents and the filing and organization of court information.
Job Responsibilities: Prepare and manage a caseload of predominantly felony cases. Prepare cases for legal proceedings. Prepare and draft correspondence and assist in the filing of legal documents. Answer and direct phone calls. Greet and assist victims of crime and other walk-in traffic. File and route legal documents. Enter information into the computer. Make copies. Request reports, video and records from a variety of Law Enforcement Agencies. Provide defense attorneys with collected reports, video and records. Create, prepare, and maintain files. Gather, sort, organize and prepare files and information for attorney handling. Distribute, log and track files, reports, and case information. Prepare documents for the court. Assist attorneys with document preparation and filing of court information. Assist in the preparation of Felony Jury Trials. Process incoming and outgoing mail. Wage depends on experience but will range $21.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Applicants Should Have: High school diploma or GED and two years of general secretarial work. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be able to work in fast paced environment, have outstanding organizational skills, and strong work ethic.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Have: Three or more years of secretarial experience. Strong technical and skills in a variety of word and data processing programs. Experience in a legal environment. Knowledge of legal terminology. Experience with Karpel file system a plus.
