About the Firm:

 

A busy solo practice trial lawyer in Rapid City focusing on catastrophic personal injury cases – including traumatic brain injury, complex orthopedic trauma, and commercial vehicle and trucking jury trials.  RobertJ. Rohl, Trial Lawyer, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to join our team.  This position is ideal for a motivated professional who takes pride in their work, is very organized, and wants to help regular people obtain the justice they deserve. 

 

The position will work directly with the managing attorney and his senior litigation paralegal.  The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, prior litigation and filing experience, prior experience with subrogation, and prompt.  This role requires the ability to manage deadlines, file pleadings correctly in state and federal court, communicate with subrogation holders, and maintain clear communication with clients and co-counsel. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Filing pleadings in state and federal court

Preparing and formatting correspondence and legal documents

Managing case calendars and tracking litigation deadlines

Managing medical records, medical bills, and subrogation

Communicating with clients in a professional and timely manner

Coordinating medical records and case documentation as directed

Assisting with trial preparation and appellate court advocacy

General office administrative and litigation support tasks

 

Qualifications

Prior experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary(litigation experience preferred)

Familiarity with South Dakota state and federal court filing procedures

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and follow direction

Experience and knowledge with clerical, office, and administrative staff work

 

Preferred Experience

2 years of litigation experience

Personal injury or civil litigation background

Experience handling medical records and organization of complex case files
